Technomate directly on 0208 884 0701, or, it may possibly only be capacitors m8, which if youre happy with a soldering iron, would be cheaper than replacing a PSU. Can you post a high res picture of the PSU?

Happy New Year sorry for late reply been busy with family anyway it turns out the PSU isn't faulty or it was and started working again. However the VFD is not working so just going to try reflash the image if that fails any suggestions? Already tried to remove the ribbon and reconnect it making sure its in properly. Everything else looks normal.

Ok so turns out its not just the display, its the whole front panel because none of the buttons work either including front power and buttons on top of the box.

You did read my post over on the wos website did you....

It's exactly the same problem as I had and if TM will fix it, great, if not it's a simple fix (as explained in the post linked to in my previous post above)

Poor PSU design + cheap components = PSU failure.

TM will accuse you of using the box too much (pmsl) and in too much heat (20-25C usual room temp)..

Once the PSU has been replaced/repaired, it's sad it will go back to being an unreliable POS, but at least you can ebay it lol

I read the link but it doesn't have any replies:
    Hi Guys,

So I wke up this morning to find that my front panel is not on and none of the buttons on the unit are working. So I can't change channels using the remote as the IR does not seem to work on the unit and I can't upgrade the unit as I can't press OK on the unit during the upgrade.

I've tried switching the unit on and off and nothing. The current channel on display shows a small portion of the top screen along the bottom.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Rick
Is it still the whole PSU that needs replacing as everything works except the front buttons and display. At the moment using dreamdroid app to as remote wont work either.

Usually it is hard to get new PSU for a specific stb model, because there are many sat boxes with diff design.
Althought all PSU have the same voltage outputs 5, 12 , 3 ....volts but the board size and pins layout are not same. Most PSU are interchangeable after minor modification for fixing bolts and pins out.
Most cases power supply failure is located in capacitors or blown safety resistor. Some PSU have glass fuse too.
To do-it-yourself , you must have mutitester to measure the voltage and soldering iron.
The PSU voltage output are printed on PCB beside the pins of output socket. and must be measure without disconnecting any of its ends (under load).
If you are not familiar with electronics repair , it is better to send for repair and save time looking for new one. The whole replacement of capacitors will not exceed 10$ (parts price).

    Good luck

I think its the front panel at fault could I connect that to any other box to see if it powers up?
